Tandori Spice – My New Favorite Fall Color
Your new favorite fall color should be Tandori Spice. The changing leaves are inspiring so many color combinations. As the light moves and the wind blows, I imagine something new with each blink of my eyes. Color chooses me!
This year the leaves have guided me to a pretty spicy, red color. Pantone has labeled it: Tandori Spice. This romantic shade makes a bold feminine statement.
I don’t know about you, but I feel like color chooses me. It provides inspiration for my next project. My very favorite color is yellow. When I play a board game, I am always the yellow piece … if there is a choice for fun cocktails, I will pick the yellow one! However, when it comes to my creative moments the harmony of seasonal colors seems to pull at me to join in the spirit of the moment. As I invite the colors into my creative circle they lift my mood. They make my hands happy as I work to bring them together into a project. Often, when I am finished with the garment, I see it in the closet or on a friend, it will spark memories of how I was thinking or feeling when the piece was made.
It is fun to open your mind and allow colors to choose you. This action allows for variety in your creativity and in your wardrobe! All while making new favorite colors!
Currently, I am enjoying monochromatic color combinations using my new favorite colors this season. I also like to dress with several layers of clothes. Using one color or a combination of the shades of a color along with a variety of lengths in my layers helps me to stay warm during the cold months.
Here is the wool that inspires me!
I found three colors of Blue Sky Fibers Woolstock Yarn that I thought would make a beautiful monochromatic color combination: (in order: Red Rock, Quartz Crystal, and Drift Wood)
Boxy Sweaters inspire me!
I was a test knitter for Joji Locatelli’s Textured Knit Sweater this summer. Below is a photo of me in my sweater. This was such a great knit. I liked the way the colors changed throughout the stripping to give a bit of a variegated look. I just love the fit of this boxy sweater and want to make more!
My new fall favorite color, Tandori Spice, would be the perfect main color for it and the pink and ivory would alternate as stripes. I think this would be perfect for the upcoming holidays!
As you think about color for your next knitting project, look around you and let color inspire you. Think about what you like to wear and look for a knitting pattern that meets your needs. You will then be sure to have knitted a new piece for your wardrobe using your favorite fall color that brings you joy!
