My mother’s scarf is my next project. Mother’s Day is quickly approaching. I have exactly 18 days to complete this next project … the race is on!
I gave my Mom a choice of two colors and I think she definitely made the right choice. She is going to look very pretty in this scarf.
This happens to be one of my favorite patterns – it is a helix scarf. There are 30 total stitches across the whole scarf. short rows are what make the ruffle. It is as easy as this: cast on 30 stitches, knit the first 10 stitches of the row then wrap and turn and knit back, then knit 5 stitches then wrap and turn and knit back, then knit all the way across. Piece of pie!
The yarn is Berroco Folio ™ in Pacific – it is 65% superfine alpaca and 35% rayon, which will mean it will wash and wear well for the winter. It has a beautiful silver metallic sheen. I choose a really small needle size – #2 – the bamboo needles grip the fibers and allow for easy wraps and turns. The drape seems to have a nice elasticity. This is a great project for my bus rides to NYC.
