Getting started in knitting is all about the process of putting stitches on the needle. There are many, many, many ways to cast-on your stitches, my favorite, happens to be the long-tail cast-on. When you get started it is usually easier to work with a straight needle, rather than a circular one – a straight needle is longer and provides more stability in your hand.
The first step in casting-on is to attach the yarn to the needle; there are about 3 different ways to do this … today, I am going to share how-to make a slip knot. It works well for any purpose, and will stay put until you are ready to begin.
