Granny-chic florals are blossoming this summer
With a return to lady-like dressing, 1940’s granny-chic floral tea dresses are popping up this season.
Granny-chic florals are making an appearance in my wardrobe this summer. A tea-length hem falls below the knee and has always been my favorite length dress. These feminine dress shapes define form at the waist and bustline and can feature ruffles at hemlines and collars giving your wardrobe a romantic, vintage edge, as pretty florals, lace inserts and belted styles keep the tea dress a classic.
1940s women’s fashion was about creating a certain silhouette: wide padded shoulders, nipped in high waist tops and A-line skirts that came down to the knee. This was the everyday shape for clothing and I am excited to see the look coming back into our everyday wardrobes this summer.
Dresses are so easy to wear in the summer. They are perfect for the office and for the weekend. A granny-chic floral dress can make an appearance at the beach or at an event. There is no need to coordinate several pieces, if you think you might be chilly in the air conditioning, just grab a sweater or a wrap and you are ready to go!
