What You Need:

Scrapbook Paper (any kind or theme) – here is what I used:

K&Company™ Tim Coffey Travel 12×12 Designer Paper Pad: 30-658493

K&Company™ Tim Coffey Travel Voyage 12×12 Designer Paper Pad: 30-658486

K&Company™ Tim Coffey Travel Sea Adhesive Chipboard: 30-658424

Spray bottle filled with water

Paint Brush

Dish of water to rinse brush (separate from spray bottle)

Paper towel

Paper cover for the table

Embroidery hoops in a variety of sizes

Acrylic Satin Finish Paints in your choice of colors (Martha Stewart Crafts™ Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Craft Paint: Pond, Pool, Love Bird, Scallion and Mace)

What To Do:

  1. Cover your work surface with newsprint or paper. Fill your dish with water to clean your paint brush. Fold a paper towel into quarters to act as your palette.
  2. Separate the embroidery hoops; you will only need to paint the top halves.
  3. Paint your hoops with one or two coats of the satin finish paint, letting them dry completely between coats.
  4. Select decorative papers and stickers for each hoop.
  5. Spray a 12 x 12” piece of paper with water to make the paper soft. A fine mist works best; you want the paper to be wet, but not soaked.
  6. Lay the paper on a hard, even surface and slide the bottom half of the embroidery hoop under the paper. Gently, mold the paper around the bottom hoop then slip the top hoop over the paper and screw closed. Tip: Open the top hoop as wide as possible, this will allow the hoop to fit over the bottom piece easily without tearing the paper.
  7. Flip the hoop over to the wrong side and tear away the excess paper.
  8. Allow the hoops to dry in the sun. The heat of the sun will dry the paper taught across the hoops.
  9. Decorate with a sticker and arrange on the wall!

Techniques:

I have found that a plant misting/spray bottle is a must-have in the craft room for a variety of tasks, from ironing, to paper sculpting to clean-up.
