My Quarantine Knit

My Quarantine Knit

Everyone needs that one sweater made from Brooklyn Tweed Shelter. The Weekender Sweater by Drea Renee Knits is the perfect boxy fit for lounging all weekend in scrumptious, squishy wool. As my local yarn shop, Blazing Needles, was entering Stay at Home orders and offering curbside pick-up only. I knew it was time to knit this sweater. I placed my order online and found my order on the shop doorstep waiting for my in little tissue wrapped puffs of wooly goodness.

I joined the shop’s virtual knit night and began a tubular cast on … how I did that while talking is unknown to me!

Tubular Cast-On

This sweater knits up very boxy with 13″ of ease. It is a quick knit with Shelter’s DK weight. As the body began to form, I thought I had made a mistake in choosing my size.

It looked so big on the mannequin

But as the shoulders came together with a 3-needle bind-off, the sweater took shape and I knew it would be perfect. I quickly knit the sleeves and did a tubular cast-off on the cuffs – which I love!

The sweater took a luxurious bath overnight with tons of lanolin soap. All the extra lanolin made the wool super soft. She dried out in the sun and I could not wait to put her on! She is perfect! The spring weather here in Utah has allowed quite a bit of wearing – right up until yesterday – the first day of summer! I can’t wait to pull her out for the fall – I know this one will be a staple in my wardrobe for 3 of the 4 seasons!

She is done!
