The Breton Style Stripe Sweater should be the next project you knit. Stripes remain a strong trend for spring into summer 2016. This nautical knit continues as a core seasonal item that moves from cool to warm weather with a variety of looks from the simple T-shirt through to slouchy crew tops and even into longer dresses.
Typically characterized as a cotton top with blue sailor-like stripes, the style was introduced in 1858 as the uniform for the French Navy – then Coco Chanel took notice of the uniform and was inspired to incorporate the stripes into her 1917 nautical collection.

When choosing colors; look for classic, optic whites and navy as the core combination, then allow yourself to branch out into red, orange, yellow, and cobalt blue to embrace the sporty Breton Style Stripe trend.

The Satsuma Stripes colorway is fantastic for both spring and fall Breton Style Stripe sweaters. I have been wanting to try some of the Quince & Co Chickadee and this looks like the perfect project. Chickadee is available in tons of bright colors that could be mixed with white or a neutral. This is another yarn choice that will not break the bank!
Of course, the classic would be Breton by Jared Flood (pictured at the top of the post). He suggests the beautiful Brooklyn Tweed Loft I can only imagine how soft and special this piece would feel on a cool spring or fall day.
